Special Presidential Award for Nathan Harney at CYC

Special Presidential Award for Nathan Harney at CYC

See a special moment in the short life of Nathan Harney when he was presented with a medal by GAA President Liam O'Neill at the CYC (Continental Youth Championships) in Philadelphia in July 2013.

Nathan, who was suffering at the time from Tay Sachs, a rare and fatal Irish genetic disease, passed away on June 18th this year.

'It was a very nice moment, a great honour', said Nathan's Father Aaron who is from Irish descent. Aaron and his wife, Kathryn Brierton Harney, attended the CYC with Nathan as part of a Research Project aimed at finding out just how prevalent the disease is in the Irish community.

You can find out more at and on the Nathan Harney Facebook page.
