Italian GAA History-makers

GAA clubs outside Ireland have always had some Irish input but not any more.

The Rovigo club is entirely Italian and they will make history this weekend by hosting a round of the Swiss-Italian Regional Tournament.

'It is important for Rovigo as we are the first town in Italy to have a Gaelic Football team', says Chairperson Raffaello Franco.

Set up in 2012 and situated just an hour from Venice, Rovigo have made rapid progress and are enthusiastically embracing the GAA.

As Jerome Quinn reports from their last training session before the Tournament, the team has gained four new players and their skills are improving fast.
