Camogs on the Up

9th Apr 2011
Fair play to the Camogie Association for recent strides forward in the promotion of the game.

They've played second fiddle to Ladies Football for too long and are now coming out of the shadows to show that they have a fabulous game which deserves better.

Six captains duly turned out in the sunshine at Croke Park on Friday, April 8, to put their best foot forward ahead of the National League Finals, as you can see on the video here.

I interviewed each one of them and the result will appear on videos over the coming weeks. They were all superb ambassadors for the game.

We talked about everything from the upcoming Finals to one captain who will be entering the boxing ring the night before her Final, in aid of charity. Then there was the captain who works for Google, another who is hoping to play despite having recently broken two fingers, and another who isn't too complimentary about Paul Galvin's dress sense.

They all share one thing in common - a deep love for the sport. That will come across in the videos.

Fair play also to the Camogie Association for making events like this happen and for securing sponsorship from the Irish Daily Star.
